Tree crushes vehicle in Eden; delays expected

EDEN, N.C. — Crews are working to clear the scene after a tree fell on a vehicle in Eden early Friday morning.


At about 3 a.m., officers responded to a wreck at the intersection of Hamilton Street and Early Avenue. Upon arrival, Eden police discovered a tree crushed an SUV when it fell onto the vehicle as it was passing by.

The driver was able to leave the SUV and was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

Hamilton Street is closed from Irving Avenue to Center Church Road and Early Avenue is closed at Monroe Street.

City of Eden crews are working to clear the roadway while Duke Energy and the NCDOT are prepared to make repairs to power lines if needed.
