Arrest made in robbery, kidnapping at Burlington Red Carpet Inn

BURLINGTON, N.C. — A teen has been arrested in connection with a robbery and kidnapping at the Red Carpet Inn in Burlington.

Seth Whitted, 17, of Mebane, is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, larceny of a motor vehicle and second-degree kidnapping, according to Sgt. Jeff Kology with Burlington police.

On Wednesday at 7:18 a.m., Burlington police officers responded to Steve’s Garden Market in Graham in reference to a reported robbery, Kology said. Officers determined the robbery took place at the Red Carpet Inn on Plantation Drive in Burlington.

Upon arrival at Steve’s Garden Market, officers met with the victim who said he was robbed at gunpoint of his vehicle, cash and shoes, Kology said. The victim was taken from the original scene by the suspect and released in Graham.

Whitted was identified though witnesses and surveillance video, Kology said.

Both Whitted and the victim’s car were located in Hillsborough through the assistance of Hillsborough police, Kology said.

Whitted was placed in the Alamance County Jail under a $250,000 bond.
