KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Two boys from Tennessee are showing the internet how it looks to be a best friend.

Lucas Jones, 8, who was diagnosed in March with rhabdomyosarcoma, doesn’t have to face it alone – his best friend won’t let him.

“I wanted to shave my hair because I didn’t want Lucas to feel alone if it came back,” said CJ Hardy, according to WATE.

The aggressive form of cancer leaves little Lucas with a 20 to 30 percent chance of survival, but the community has rallied around him through treatment and chemotherapy.

“With Lucas, he does understand this is very serious for him, and I think this is what motivates [CJ] even more to push forward and try to help him,” said CJ’s mom Jessica Hardy.

A GoFundMe page was set up to help Lucas’s family with the bills.

As of Thursday afternoon, the account has reached $59,718 of its $75,000 goal.
