High Point man charged with assault, statutory rape of girl 15 or younger

HIGH POINT, N.C. — A High Point man is facing charges of assault and statutory rape, according to the High Point Enterprise.

Lakevin Obryan Doward, 22, is charged with felony assault by strangulation inflicting serious injury, felony statutory rape and misdemeanor assault on a female by a male over 18.

A police report obtained by the Enterprise said Doward was arrested at 12:44 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of Scott Avenue.

High Point police Lt. Rick Johnson told the Enterprise Doward was placed in the High Point Jail under a domestic hold. On Tuesday morning, a judge set his bond at $40,000.

Doward is accused of putting his arm around a girl’s neck until she couldn’t breathe, according to an arrest warrant. The warrant also said Doward pushed, choked and engaged in sexual intercourse with the girl, who is 15 years old or younger.

Doward remains in jail as of 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to Guilford County jail records.
