SHELBY, N.C. — Two people have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a Shelby police officer.

Deitria Morris was arrested as an accessory after the fact in the death of Officer Tim Brackeen, the Shelby Star reports.

Ashley Michelle Hamrick, of Shelby, was arrested on charges of felony harboring an escapee, according to the Star.

Police believe Hamrick was harboring Irving Lucien Fenner Jr. in regards to the arrest warrants Brackeen was serving on him Saturday.

Fenner allegedly shot Brackeen on Saturday and Brackeen died at Carolinas Medical Center Monday morning.

Morris was arrested by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, the Star reports, but it is unclear how she was helping Fenner.

Both women were still in police custody as of 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Star reports.

Fenner is still on the loose and now faces first-degree murder charges.
