GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. -- Dancers with Southern Clogging Co in Guilford County are mourning the loss of 14-year-old Katlyn Williams.

Katlyn died Monday in a swimming accident at Badin Lake. Katlyn was there with her family. She had just started her freshman year at Southeast Guilford High School.

"Katlyn would have wanted us to push forward, she had that infectious personality and she probably wouldn't accept anything less than for us to keep on pushing," says Brandi Moon, Katlyn's dance teacher.

Moon is raising money to help the family afford funeral expenses.

Katlyn's friend Taylor Martin has known Katlyn her whole life. She says Katlyn is her new inspiration.

"Even though Katlyn suffered with epilepsy, she never let that stop her she always kept going, kept dancing, kept doing other things," Taylor said.

The dancers were like a second family to Katlyn for the last four years. They have started a GoFundMe page to help the family.

The dancers say whenever their shoes make a beat in the future they will be thinking of Katlyn's infectious smile.

"The next time we hit the stage at the state fair, which will be coming up next month, it will probably be super hard for all of us but we'll be dancing that much harder in honor and memory of her," Moon said.
