GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. -- A state trooper and a deputy were involved in a crash Monday evening, according to Capt. R.B. Shepherd with the Guilford County Sheriff's Office.

A Guilford County deputy responded to a single-car accident with a potential pin-in in the 5500 block of Burlington Road shortly before 6 p.m., Shepherd said. When he arrived, two people ran from the vehicle.

The deputy called for backup and troopers and deputies set up a perimeter around the accident.

As they were responding, a trooper and a deputy got into an accident with each other on Burlington Road near Lou Drive, Shepherd said. Both were taken to the hospital -- the deputy for precautionary reasons and the trooper for a non-life-threatening injury.

One person who ran from the initial accident scene was taken into custody and the other is still at large, Shepherd said.
