Burlington mother, boyfriend charged after allegedly putting child in dryer

BURLINGTON, N.C. — A mother and her boyfriend have been charged with child abuse after allegedly placing her child in a dryer, according to Sgt. Jennifer Matherly with Burlington police.

Heather Rowland, 25, and Eric Chambers, 37, both of Burlington, have each been charged with misdemeanor child abuse. Chambers was also charged with one count of assault on a child under 12.

On Friday, Burlington police was notified of the incident. Matherly said after an investigation, it was determined that the couple had abused Rowland’s child by putting it in a dryer.

The child sustained minor visible injuries and has been placed in the temporary custody of relatives, Matherly said.

Rowland and Chambers are being held in the Alamance County Jail, Matherly said. Rowland is being held under a $2,500 secured bond and Chambers is being held under a $5,000 secured bond.
