1 toddler killed, another injured in shooting at SC apartment complex

RICHLAND COUNTY, N.C. — One of the two toddlers who were shot at an apartment complex on Thursday has passed away, according to WIS.

The shooting was reported at about 6:30 p.m. at Meredith Square Townhome apartments in Richland County, according to authorities.

The victims were sisters and younger than 5 years old. A 2-year-old girl who underwent surgery for her critical wounds passed away. Her 4-year-old sister’s injuries were not life-threatening.

The father was also injured in the hand. The mother was home at the time but was not injured.

Deputies have not released any information about how the shooting happened. The investigation is ongoing.
