Man found dead outside Greensboro home identified; homicide investigation underway

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Greensboro police have identified the man found dead outside a West Florida Street home on Tuesday morning.

The victim has been identified as Lee Matthews, 44, of 1308 W. Florida St., Greensboro, according to a news release from Greensboro police.

At about 6:40 a.m., police responded to a call about a deceased man found on the property of 1308 W. Florida St.

Detectives have categorized the manner of death to be a homicide.

A cause of death has not been determined, the release said.

Police are canvassing the neighborhood and interviewing people who knew Matthews in hopes of determining the identity of the suspect or suspects, the release said.
