Arrest made in murder of Winston-Salem man

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A man accusing of shooting and killing a Winston-Salem man on June 7 has been arrested, according to a news release from Winston-Salem police.

Assante Michael Sims, 29, of Winston-Salem, is charged with murder.

The shooting happened at 1517 E. 23 St. in the early morning hours of June 7.

Officers responded at 3:38 a.m. and located 44-year-old Kedrick Leonard White dead at the scene.

Sims was charged in the shooting on Wednesday, police said.

Sims is being held in the Forsyth County Detention Center. A bond amount and court date have yet to be determined.
