GREENSBORO, N.C. -- They were up against some serious competition to be named the fittest on earth.

Now, three ladies from the Piedmont have proven they are some of the fiercest athletes on the planet – taking home big titles in the 2016 CrossFit Games this past July.

Allison Weiss earned the title Fittest Teen on Earth in the 16-17 year old girls division.

Haley Adams earned the title Second Fittest Teen on Earth in the 14-15 year old girls division.

Tracy Shuford earned the title Second Fittest on Earth in the Masters 45-49 year old division.

“I remember watching the games on my computer and I did not think that I’d be there the next year,” Adams said.

“This time I went and relaxed wanting to have fun and it worked out well, “Weiss said.

Although they are each proud of their accomplishments, the women said the experience was about more than a title.

“I think the reward is not necessarily the medal around your neck, or your rank at the end of it, it’s just honestly the community of people you compete against out there,” Shuford said.

The ladies train at College Hill CrossFit in Greensboro.
