Man charged with shooting into occupied apartment in Burlington

BURLINGTON, N.C. – A Durham man has been arrested and charged with shooting into an occupied apartment building Thursday night in Burlington.

Robert Everett, 20, faces charges of shooting into an occupied dwelling, violating a domestic violence protection order, assault with a deadly weapon, injury to personal property, discharging a firearm in the city of Burlington and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Burlington police said officers were called to the area of 1510 S. Mebane St. shortly after 11:30 p.m. Thursday in connection to the incident.

Investigators said the suspect had been at the apartment complex earlier and got into an argument and left. He later returned and shot at the apartment from the parking lot, according to police.

An occupied apartment and an unoccupied vehicle were hit, both unintended targets, according to police. No injuries were reported.

The suspect was jailed in Alamance County under a $470,000 secured bond.
