Graham man, 18, injured after hit by van

GRAHAM, N.C. – An 18-year-old man was hit by a van and injured Friday morning in Graham, according to authorities.

Jalen Jason Walker, of Graham, was injured in the incident, which was reported at about 11:40 a.m. in the area of West Elm and Oakley streets.

Officials said the victim was hit by a 1995 Chevrolet van driven by a 75-year-old Burlington man who tried to stop, but couldn’t due to time and distance limitations.

Walker was treated at the scene by emergency medical workers and transported by Lifeflight to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

Visible injuries at the scene were consistant with that of skin contact to asphalt, according to police. No charges have been filed.
