Downed tree on Yanceyville Drive

Browns Summit, N.C. — A downed tree has closed part of Yanceyville Road near Reedy Fork Baptist Church in Browns Summit Thursday morning.

First responders say a driver was going down the road when he noticed a fallen tree at 4805 Yanceyville Drive. He swerved and attempted to miss the tree, but ran off the road. The driver is okay.

The incident took out one powerline but crews don’t think it caused a large number of outages.

As of 5:28 a.m., the tree is still down and crews are waiting on DOT to come move the tree so the line can be fixed.

The road is expected to remain closed for several more hours.
