GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — The boyfriend of the mother of a 3-year-old girl reported missing Monday was charged with murder Tuesday, WBTV reports.

William “Skip” McCullen is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Jordan Ann Dumont.

Remains, believed to be the child’s, were located during a search on Tuesday morning.

Jordan disappeared from a house on Bess Town Road around 1 p.m. Monday, officials said.

McCullen told authorities he put Jordan down for a nap at about that time, WSOC reported.

He told investigators that he then also took a nap and when he woke up around 3:30 p.m. he realized Jordan wasn’t in the home and the front door was open.

The remains found Tuesday morning have not been officially identified.
