Winston-Salem native Kathleen Baker wins silver medal at Rio Olympics

RIO DE JANEIRO — Winston-Salem native Kathleen Baker won the silver medal in the 100m backstroke at the Olympic Games on Monday.

Baker, 19, is competing in her first Olympic Games.

Hungary’s Katinka Hosszú took the gold medal.

China’s Fu Yuanhui and Canada’s Kylie Masse tied for third place.

Baker attends the University of California, Berkley.
