OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Three people are recovering after a swarm of several thousand bees escaped and stung people in a Walmart parking lot in Oklahoma on Saturday.

Bees were being transported from one vehicle to another at about 10:30 a.m. when the incident occurred, KFOR reports.

“The beekeeper that we spoke to on the scene said that each hive can have up to 22,000 bees and at the time there were three hives she counted and she said they were about half full at that time,” said Colin Roy, EMSA field operations supervisor, according to KFOR. “So, anywhere from 30,000 plus bees.”

The victims were transported to the hospital and two people are in serious condition.
