Burlington Sonic robbed at gunpoint

BURLINGTON, N.C. — The Sonic at 3431 S. Church St. was robbed at gunpoint overnight.

Police say the restaurant was robbed at about 12:38 a.m. when an unidentified male suspect entered through the service door.

The suspect reportedly came in with a semi-automatic handgun and demanded money from the safe. He was last seen going back out the service door and in an unknown direction.

Sonic night manager Brittany Goodman was not injured during the robbery and a K-9 was dispatched in an attempt to locate the suspect. The man has not yet been located, police say.

The investigation is ongoing.
