Japanese Olympic gymnast Kohei Uchimura couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw his latest phone bill.

The Olympic gold medalist told Kyodo News he was hit with a $5,000 data roaming bill after becoming hooked on “Pokemon Go” since arriving in Brazil for the Olympics.

Uchimura said he downloaded the game when he landed in Sao Paulo for pre-Olympic training camp. He became hooked on the game — not knowing he didn’t have a flat rate for overseas data usage.

He was spared the huge bill after contacting his phone company to explain the situation. In the end, the phone company agreed to reduce his bill to a $30-a-day unlimited plan.
