LOVELAND, Ohio — An Ohio man is facing charges after he allegedly killed his 4-month-old daughter by dropping her into the Little Miami River and attempted to cover it up by reporting her to be abducted.

Charles Crawford, 25 is being charged with aggravated assault after he admitted in court on Tuesday that he purposely dropped Kaylynn Crawford in the river, FOX19 reports.

He told authorities on Sunday that someone abducted his daughter from his car, but gave statements of his involvement in the death of his daughter and eventually led officers to where the body was located along the river.

“While we cannot release many specifics regarding this ongoing investigation, we can say that the report that Charles Crawford filed indicating that Kaylynn had been abducted from the Dollar General was fabricated,” said Savalas Kidd of the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, according to FOX19.

The investigation is ongoing.
