ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — A man has been charged with a sex offense following a months-long investigation in Alamance County.

Wesley Scott Gibson, 20, of Snow Camp, is charged with second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, according to Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Randy Jones.

Gibson was served a warrant for arrest at his Snow Camp residence on Wednesday, Jones said.

The warrant was issued following an investigation that started in November 2015. Jones said the investigation centered around a video that was made and allegedly put on social media.

“The investigation required a degree of forensic examination to be conducted on electronic devices,” Jones said.

At the time of the initial report, Gibson was not in Alamance County. He was later located, having returned to the area, and was interviewed and subsequently charged, Jones said.

Gibson’s bond was set at $5,000 secured pending his first court appearance.

A search warrant was also executed at Gibson’s residence during the course of the investigation, Jones said.
