REIDSVILLE, N.C. -- The Reidsville Police Department gave kids something to do this summer.

A trip to the Greensboro Science Center, a day of activities at Reidsville Lake and putting on a charity car wash are just some of the activities 21 kids participated in this week.

Most of the kids attending are in middle school.

School resource officers employed by the police department led the camp, saying it was a great opportunity for kids to have something productive to do during the summer.

The police department and local churches sponsored the camp, so families wouldn't have to pay for their kids to participate.

Police say the camp is an opportunity for kids to bond with police officers, and build positive relationships.

The department says they haven't held a camp for kids in several years and  officers are glad to bring it back this summer. They hope to hold it happen again next year.
