MOORESVILLE, N.C. — A North Carolina man has been arrested after he allegedly killed his 79-year-old mother.

55-year-old Michael Frye is facing charges after officers responded to the house of Bobbie Frye and found her with severe injuries, WSOC reports. She was rushed to a local hospital but died soon after.

The victim’s niece, Bonnie Smith, had been taking care of the woman for a couple years and said she found Bobbie Frye’s body Monday morning.

“I heard her start moaning and so I took off see what was wrong, and I walked into a nightmare,” Smith said, according to WSOC. “I mean, she was just in terrible shape.”

Police arrested Michael Frye overnight after Smith said that he was the only other person that was home when the attack happened.
