South Carolina woman charged with suffocating infant

GREENVILLE, S.C. — A Greenville woman is charged with killing her 5-month-old daughter.

20-year-old Meaghan Lesley Rider is charged with one count of murder by child abuse and unlawful neglect of a child, WSOC reports.

On April 17, the baby was found unresponsive with a piece of plastic in her crib, police say. On June 27, Rider was arrested.

The autopsy shows that suffocation was the cause of death.
