GREENSBORO, N.C. — It’s become a rite of summer: Independence Day is Big Attendance Day at NewBridge Bank Park.

The Greensboro Grasshoppers will play a home game on the Fourth of July for the 11th time in the 12 seasons since the downtown ballpark opened on the corner of Bellemeade and Eugene back in 2005.

According to the News & Record, the Hoppers have averaged crowds of 9,742 on previous Fourths in a ballpark with 5,300 chairback seats and an official capacity of 7,499.

The schedule has favored the franchise. Trace it back to when the team played in old Memorial Stadium, and Greensboro has had a July 4 home game 14 of the last 15 years.
