Man who died after falling off banana boat in North Myrtle Beach was from Winston-Salem

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — A man who died after an accident in North Myrtle Beach on Thursday afternoon has been identified as a Piedmont Triad resident.

Horry County Coroner Robert Edge told WMBF the victim was Danny Winters, 56, of Winston-Salem.

The accident happened at Aloha Watersports at 2:15 p.m.

North Myrtle Beach spokesperson Pat Dowling told WMBF a man fell off a banana boat and wound up face-down in the water.

The man was brought to shore and lifeguards performed CPR and used a defibrillator.

The man was taken to the hospital, where he passed away.

Dowling told WMBF lifeguards said it appeared the man suffered a heart attack.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
