Guilford County Schools name finalist for superintendent; board set to vote tonight

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. -- In wake of the Guilford County Board of Education's special-called board meeting to discuss the superintendent position, Guilford County Schools has named Dr. Sharon L. Contreras the finalist.

Prior to Tuesday night's meeting, Dr. Contreras will meet the public in High Point, Greensboro and Jamestown.

Here's where:

  • 1:30-2:30 p.m.: High Point Central High School media center, 801 Ferndale Blvd., High Point
  • 3-4 p.m.: Ragsdale High School media center, 1000 Lucy Ragsdale School Road, Jamestown
  • 5-6 p.m.: Central Administrative Offices board room, 712 N. Eugene St., Greensboro

Contreras, who has been the superintendent of the Syracuse City School District since 2011, is expected to be hired.

The board of education will begin at 6 p.m. at the Central Administrative offices, which is located at 712 N. Eugene Street.
