ALTADENA, Calif. — A bear clawed through a California man’s tent late Friday night and slashed the unsuspecting camper, ABC News reported.

The attack happened around 2 a.m. at the Millard Campground near Altadena, California.

The man did not know he was injured until he felt something dripping on his face, according to authorities.  The bear cut the man on the forehead. He required approximately 18 stitches.

An approximately 120-pound bear was seen leaving the area.

The campground is closed for about three days while officials attempt to trap the bear.
