HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – A photo of what appears to be a shark off the coast of Hilton Head Island is raising debate.

Steve Triplett recently posted the image to Facebook, saying that it was a huge shark close to the shore. The photo appears to show a shark’s fin near the beach.

The Facebook photo has been shared more than 46,000 times since being posted on Thursday. Triplett claims it was one of two sharks he saw on Wednesday.

Captain Chip Michalove with Outcast Sport Fishing told WTOC that there are more than 30 species of sharks in those waters, which includes great white, tiger and hammerhead.

Michalove also said there are dolphins, sting rays and manatees and it could have been one of those.
