NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — A 42-year-old man was taken to the hospital Tuesday after he was bitten on the foot by what he said was a 3- to 5-foot-long shark.
North Myrtle Beach spokesperson Pat Dowling told WBTW the man is from Delaware and was floating on his back in the ocean at about 3:25 p.m. around 12th Avenue South.
The man said he felt a tug on his foot, then felt his foot taken into the shark’s mouth.
The man was able to shake his foot loose from the shark’s mouth and made it to shore, Dowling said.
There were puncture wounds and blood on the man’s foot.
Dowling did not release the man’s name.
