BURLINGTON, N.C. — The man accused of crashing into a Burlington home, causing a fire and fleeing the scene Saturday night has been arrested, according to Capt. Mark Rascoe with Burlington police.

Bruce Antoine Felton, 43, of Burlington, was arrested and charged with felony hit-and-run, driving while license revoked and injury to real property, Rascoe said Monday afternoon.

Officers responded to 1442 Morningside Drive at 10:51 p.m. Saturday in reference to a house fire.

Arriving officers said a vehicle crashed into the home, striking a gas line, causing the vehicle and house to catch on fire.

The residents of the home were inside at the time of the crash, however they were not injured, according to police.

Investigators said the driver was headed west on Morningside Drive, exited the roadway, struck a tree and ultimately collided into the rear corner of the house.

Witnesses said they saw two men running from the scene before officers arrived.

The City of Burlington’s building inspector estimated the damage at $100,000, which was what the home was valued at.
