SURFSIDE BEACH, Texas — An alligator was spotted Saturday afternoon swimming to shore at Surfside Beach.

The encounter is considered bizarre because the reptiles usually are known to roam in freshwater.

According to KTRK, it wasn’t clear yet how the alligator got there, if it was caught or if it just roamed back into the water.

Wildlife experts say gators are showing up in unusual places because of the recent floods.
