Teenager stabbed in robbery attempt in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Guilford County Sheriff's Office is investigating a stabbing that occurred Friday morning at 914 McClelland Place.

The incident was reported at 10:52 a.m. Paramedics and deputies responded at 10:57 a.m.

According to Col. Randy Powers, with the sheriff's office, the suspect knocked on the victim's door and engaged the victim in conversation. The suspect then displayed a knife and cut the victim in the abdomen. The suspect attempted to steal the victim's wallet and fled the scene.

The victim, identified as the 16-year-old son of Guilford County Sheriff's Office Sgt. John Christy, has been taken to a local hospital with an abdomen wound. His injuries are thought to be minor.

Authorities are currently searching for the suspect. He was tracked to the Wendover Avenue area, but K-9 Units lost his scent.

The sheriff's office said at this point in the investigation, the incident appears to be random.
