Mother in Eden prostitution case pleads guilty to charges

WENTWORTH, N.C. — An Eden woman pleaded guilty to 48 charges in connection with an Eden prostitution ring in Rockingham County Superior Court today.

Teresa Vanover, 52, was charged with 24 counts of child abuse by prostitution and 24 counts of promoting prostitution with a minor with a disability.

As part of a plea deal, Vanover was sentenced to 80 to 156 months (6.6 to 13 years) in prison for two counts of child abuse by prostitution. In addition, she received 80 to 156 months for one count of promoting prostitution with a minor with a disability.

The other 45 counts were consolidating into one sentence that totaled 80 to 156 months. The sentence will run concurrently with the other two.

In addition, Everette Ferris Jr., 67, was sentenced to 80 to 156 months and placed on a 36-month probation for six counts of patronizing a prostitute with mental disability and indecent liberties with a child. He also received a suspension sentence of 16 to 29 months.

Donnie Ray Carter, 65, is on the 2 p.m. docket. His original April court date was rescheduled for today’s set.

He is charged with two counts of indecent liberties with a minor, one count of patronizing a prostitute and two counts of first-degree statutory sex offense.

Mickey Dale Snow, 75, is facing six counts of statutory rape and six counts of patronizing a prostitute who is mentally disabled in the same case. His trial date is slated for July.
