CAROLINA BEACH, N.C. — A 21-year-old swimmer from Graham was reported missing at Carolina Beach on Saturday.

WECT reported that the search continues Sunday for James Cameron, who is described as a 5’10” man weighing about 160 pounds.

Crews were called to the beach at about 7:51 p.m. Saturday in reference to a swimmer in distress call.

Three people were reportedly in the water and two of them came out, according to WECT. Cameron was reported missing. He was last seen in red, white and blue swim trunks.

“I was out there today,” beachgoer Steven Jones told WECT. “The waves they were strong and as they hit it pushed me over and the current pushed me out with it.”

Carolina Beach fire and law enforcement as well as officials with the U.S. Coast Guard are continuing search efforts.
