Testimony: Taped confession heard in child-sex trial
GREENSBORO, N.C. — A man’s recorded confession and his initial testimony in a child sexual assault trial told a different story than the accounts of those who spoke before him.
Ronnie Lee Ford, 52, of 1025 W. Barton St. in Greensboro is charged with first-degree sex offense, sex offense with a child, sex offense with a minor, attempted sex offense and first-degree kidnapping.
Ford’s defense attorney Robert McClellan has said repeatedly since the trial began Monday that Ford did sexually assault an 11-year-old victim — but did so under threat.
On Thursday, jurors heard Ford speak for himself, first in a recorded police interview and later under questioning from McClellan.
“Danielle orchestrated everything,” Ford said.
