A tropical depression is headed toward the Carolinas for Memorial Day weekend. The National Hurricane Center officially said the system was a tropical depression at 5 p.m. Friday.

Depending on the track, South Carolina beaches will be impacted on Saturday evening.

Most models are bringing the system into the South Carolina coast and then bringing it up into North Carolina.

By Sunday afternoon, the system could create quite a bit of rainfall for the Piedmont Triad.

By Monday morning, the Piedmont Triad could see more than three inches of rain.
