LOS ANGELES — Ellen DeGeneres gave a big surprise to a North Carolina teacher and her fiancée for trying to help save a sick dog.

WNCN reported that the talk show host presented a new lemonade stand and a gift of $10,000 earlier this week for Raleigh teacher Jennifer Marion.

The teacher rescued a dog named Pearl last year who struggled with a pancreatic illness. North Carolina State vets healed the dog, but it cost nearly $15,000.

Some of the teacher’s students made a lemonade stand to help with the cost, which is what got the attention of DeGeneres.

“We decided as long as she was not in pain we would continue to fight,” Raschella told DeGeneres. “Our dogs are our babies. It was never a big decision.”
