CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Carowinds’ new water park opens this weekend, the latest in a $50 million expansion and renovation project for the Charlotte amusement park.
Carowinds announced last year that its water park, Boomerang Bay, would undergo a major expansion in 2016 and would be renamed Carolina Harbor.
Carowinds said they have nearly doubled the size of the old water park and added several attractions. The water park opens at 11 a.m. Saturday, according to WCNC.
“This historic expansion and transformation increases the size of the waterpark by over 40% and includes new attractions for all members of the family – from mild to wild,” the park said in a statement on its website.
Carolina Harbor is included with park admission.
