Patron held gunman down after shooting near popular Uptown Charlotte bar

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A bar patron held a man down after a shooting.

According to WSOC, the man fired shots outside a popular uptown bar overnight.

Investigators said a man fired a gun outside of Connolly’s on East Fifth Street around 2:30 a.m., striking a column near the door.

A bar patron held the man down until police arrived.

There were four employees in the building at the time but police said nobody was hurt.

Police told WSOC the suspect may have been kicked out of the bar and later returned with a gun.

The shooter’s name has not been released.
