Man killed in wreck on Business 40 in Kernersville identified

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — Kernersville police have released the identity of a man who was killed in an accident on Tuesday morning.

The accident was discovered  by a Kernersville police officer at 7:44 a.m. on Interstate 40 Business East/U.S. 421 South near mile marker 13. A 1996 Dodge Dakota pickup truck was overturned on the shoulder of the road.

According to Officer L.D. Griffith, 54-year-old John Russell Tesseneer, of Winston-Salem, was the passenger who was killed in the accident.

The driver, 40-year-old Carlos Arturo Amaya Martinez, of Winston-Salem, was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He has since been discharged from the hospital, Griffith said.

The accident is still under investigation. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call the Kernersville Police Department.
