BLACK CREEK, N.C. — A North Carolina man is facing charges after police say he used a shoelace to hang his girlfriend’s puppy.

Joshua Davis, 29, is charged with cruelty to animals, according to WTVD.

Deputies arrested Davis Sunday after they were called to a home in the 700 block of Cemetery Street.

The suspect’s girlfriend had gone to the magistrate’s office to report that Davis hung her dog in her closet Saturday night when she was out.

Wanda Samuel with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office told WTVD that the woman and Davis had been involved in an argument that morning. The girlfriend told deputies that Davis killed her puppy in retaliation.
