MONCKS CORNER, S.C. — A family in South Carolina had quite the unusual visitor on their front doorstep Monday.

Gary Rogers told WCIV that he was walking his dog in Foxbank Plantation when he saw a group of construction workers stop what they were doing to watch an alligator walking across a neighboring yard.

Rogers captured video of the alligator casually walking onto a neighbor’s porch and seemingly reaching for the doorbell.

According to neighbors, it isn’t unusual to see alligators near the waterways of the neighborhood, but none of the neighbors could recall ever seeing one on the front porch of a home.

Jamie Bailey, the owner of the home where the alligator turned up, said she doesn’t know if the reptile was able to ring the doorbell, but noted that she found plenty of scratches.

Bailey was at work when her neighbor texted her about the unusual scene at her house.

Rogers told WCIV that the gator roamed the neighborhood for about an hour.
