YEMASSEE, S.C. — Nearly 20 monkeys escaped a research facility in South Carolina Sunday afternoon.

According to WTOC, the Yemassee Police Department received a call about the monkeys escaping the Alpha Genesis research facility around 1 p.m.

Six of the monkeys were captured, but authorities say at least 13 are still on the loose.

Anyone who sees the monkeys is asked to call 911.

Authorities say the monkeys do not carry diseases but could be dangerous because they are still wild animals.
