BURLINGTON, N.C. -- When Liberty interior designer Kayla Miller has some super exciting news to share, some of the first people she told are other people in her field, some of whom might be considered to be her competition.

"Sheryl Crow came in my booth and bought a couple pieces of my furniture for her house, I was like 'Oh my gosh!' That was really awesome," said Miller, of Plum Pretty Décor and Design.

Miller shared with her friends in the local chapter of "The Rising Tide Society." The group is a quickly-growing group of creative entrepreneurs who believe in community over competition, that a rising tide lifts all boats. So instead of holding on to trade secrets, they spill them.

The group has grown to include 196 chapters worldwide in less than two years. In the Piedmont group, there are wedding photographers, interior designers, makeup artists, graphic artists, illustrators and more. If you'd like to join, visit risingtidesociety.com.
