NC parents charged in death of infant daughter

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have charged the parents of an infant who was found unresponsive Sunday morning.

According to WSOC, Basheba Freeman and Taquan Beecham were charged with homicide due to child abuse.

Officers were called to a home on Winter Elm Lane Sunday morning in reference to an unresponsive infant.

The infant was rushed to the hospital where she died.

Officers told WSOC that the girl was physically assaulted and that led to her death.

Freeman and Beechman do not have prior criminal records.
