DURHAM, N.C. – A North Carolina hotel plans to install new gender-neutral signs to their single stall bathrooms in response to House Bill 2.
WNCN reported that 21c Museum Hotel in Durham plans on using the signs in an effort to get the bill overturned.
The design on the signs show a split male and female traditional bathroom logo put together. It also reads, “We don’t care.”
Gov. Pat McCrory recently signed House Bill 2, called the Public Facilities Privacy & Security Act, after it was passed by the North Carolina Senate.
House Bill 2 blocks transgender individuals from using public bathrooms that match their gender identity and stops cities from passing anti-discrimination ordinances to protect gay and transgender people. The bill also bans state lawsuits for any type of workplace discrimination.
Private individuals, companies and universities can adopt new or keep existing nondiscrimination policies.
