HUDSON, N.C. — A 77-year-old North Carolina man shot out the tires of some suspected thieves’ getaway vehicle after they allegedly broke into his home.

WSOC reported that Jerry Townsend took matters into his own hands after two suspects allegedly broke into his Hudson home on Friday.

Authorities are still looking for the suspects who allegedly broke into the home through a door and dropped jewelry as they left.

The homeowner said he told the suspects to stop and when they wouldn’t, he began firing gunshots at their tires.

Deputies are hoping to get help from the public in locating the SUV, which may have its front tires shot out. Officials said they are still searching south of Hudson.
