Assault at Lexington gas station leaves man with life-threatening injuries

LEXINGTON, N.C. — Lexington police are investigating an assault on Tuesday afternoon that left a man with life-threatening injuries.

Officers were dispatched to Bass Food Mart, located at 817 Cotton Grove Road, at 3:53 p.m.

A male victim sustained life-threatening injuries in an assault and was found lying in the parking lot of the gas station, according to Lexington police.

The victim was initially transported to Lexington Medical Center, then airlifted by AirCare to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

The victim was identified Tuesday night as Ray Eason, 24, of Lexington.

Lexington police said the suspect left the scene in a light blue Chevrolet Impala with an estimated model year between 2006-2010.
